Before I got started on my project I answered the following questions provided by the Fab Academy Rubric |
For my final project this year I am going to make a desk. I would like my desk to be able to move vertically up and down so that I can work at it while standing or while sitting. I would also like there to be plenty of room for my computer, electronics equipment, and various projects and tools. |
Thousand of people have made desks of every variety before me, but the inspiration for my project comes from Wendy, a member of the Wellington Fab Lab. She built a similar desk for her final project when she took Fab Academy. I have also built one desk during Fab Academy that can be found here. |
Here is a general BOM (Bill of Materials) for my project. |
For this desk I will try to aquire most of the materials locally. Those that I cannot find here in Alaska I will order on Amazon. |
For my final project I am hoping to spend less than $500. If possible I would prefer to keep it as at around $200. |
There will be a number of parts/systems that I will need to make for my desk. They are as follows. |
For this project I will use the following processes. |
The following tasks need to be completed in order to finish my final project. |
Before I can complete this project I still need to figure out where to aquire the materials and how long it will take to finish the project. |
Since I am going out of town before Fab Academy even ends I have a very tight schedule. I need to finish the final project in under a week. |
My final project will be evaluated based on the 2016 Fab Academy rubric. |
